Breaking Religion

God is calling his church to live from an abundant life that will cause the world to desire him. Jesus said that he has come that we may have life and have it more abundantly.

Where do we find a great definition of this life: Revelations 22:1-5 – 22 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5 And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.

Three Thought Processes Stopping Us From Living This Abundant Life

  • Expectation of Perfection – (the action or process of improving something until it is faultless) Hebrews 10:12-14 – 12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. 14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.
    • Pray: That God would break every spirit to perfection off yourself and your sphere of influence
    • Repent: of expecting perfection of yourself and those around you
    • Respond: Stop and listen for the voice of God to instruct you of what’s next
  • Condemnation of Past – (the action of condemning myself or someone to a sentences of death) Hebrews 10:15-18 – 15 And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying, 16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds,”17 then he adds, “I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”18 Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.
    • Pray: That God would break every condemning spirit off yourself and those in your sphere of influence
    • Repent: of condemning yourself or those in your sphere of influence to a sentence of death
    • Respond: Stop and listen for the voice of God to instruct you of what’s next
  • Fear of the Future – (to be afraid of the future to be dangerous, painful, or threatening) Hebrews 10:19-23 – 19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.
    • Pray: That God would break every condemning spirit off yourself and those in your sphere of influence
    • Repent: Of being afraid of the future for yourself or those in your sphere of influence.
    • Respond: Stop and listen for the voice of God to instruct you of what’s next

Let us begin to stir each other up to love and good works. Incite to movement by prayer and prophecy. Stimulate a change of motivation or attitude.

Prayer – breaks the legal hold of the enemy.

Repentance – Breaks old ways of thinking.

Responding – Causes us to walk in the new way
